Catching Up

Hello all, its been a while since I have written a blog post and I wanted to catch up my readers on my thoughts, where things are going, etc... I took a break from a hobby that I enjoy doing. The great thing about this hobby is that I get to share a bit of of myself, my experiences, and what I enjoy. Sometimes we just need to start and readjust later on.

So what now? After taking the first steps I am starting to see this blog as an opportunity to take it in a more focused direction. Those that know me know that this is not the first time trying this website thing out, trying business ideas, or trying to find a place to do what I do best and that I enjoy.

Some examples of this was my camping store idea I had in college, this website (which has been redesigned for the 5th time since I got my charlesdowdy.com domain), and the countless times I tried to start a small side hustle doing everything from computer repair to being a designer\photographer for hire. The one common notion in all of these is as an educator and storyteller.

I remember in college coming across a quote by an architect that said, "In order to be a great architect you must first be a great artist and then a great teacher" . After reading it I thought to myself , could I just be the artist and the teacher and forget about being an architect (which is what I was studying at the time).

This brings me to the refocusing of the blog yet again. Could I make this blog become the classroom I always dreamt of? Talking about art, design, and technology in a fun and educational way. Using any resource I wanted to use and in anyway I wanted to use them. It would be my version of KET (Kentucky Educational Television). My readers get to see some of my art and what I am doing but also get the educational aspect of the blog.

So that is what I am going to do for a bit and see if it sticks. All we can do is try. You will see some topics areas ranging from art history, artist spotlight, etc... in my blog area going forward. Some opinion pieces from time to time and any design or art work I am doing.

Speaking of which , I have posted more to my redbubble.com shop. I posted some nice nature pictures I took with my wife. I hope you enjoy them. Also , I made my first sale! A couple of nature stickers.
